Options to protect open driveway

We have off street parking at home where the whole of our front perimeter is open (its wide enough for 2 1/2 cars to drive on) and I'd like some suggestions on protecting it. As we have both cars parked on there, I'm guessing a normal PIR light wouldn't be that effective on the front of the house as both cars would be blocking a lot of the area it covered. I was thinking can you get through beam sensors (don't laugh) that if broken, either activate a light or lights, or an alarm?

Any options or suggestions greatly appreciated guys

Depending on what alarm panel you have depends on what you can get the beams to do. e.g set off the alarm, switch on lights etc.

no alarm panel yet, am looking into wireless alarms on another thread on here, and think ive settled for the Visonic Powermax complete. Do you know if they do a thru beam option? Or would any thru beam sensor fit it? Thanks again
